The Sudanese Refugee Association in Kawembe Launches Ramadan Food Basket Project for Over 1,000 Families

The Sudanese Refugee Association in the Kawembe region of Uganda launched a large-scale humanitarian campaign to distribute Ramadan food baskets, targeting over 1,000 Sudanese refugee families. This initiative was supported and sponsored by Pan African and Jubair companies.

This initiative comes as part of efforts to alleviate the financial burdens on refugees during the holy month of Ramadan.

The distributed food baskets contained a comprehensive package of essential food items needed by families, including sugar, oil, tea, rice, flour, and salt.

Dr. Issa Mohammed, head of the Sudanese Refugee Association in Kawembe, explained that the program successfully reached the most vulnerable groups, confirming that the campaign covered more than 1,000 Sudanese families residing in the region.

Dr. Issa expressed his gratitude to the sponsors, Pan African and Jubair companies, commending their response. The swift response and effective contribution of the association in making this charitable work a success and bringing joy to the hearts of those fasting.

In closing, the head of the association emphasized the Refugee Unit's unwavering commitment to continuing to provide humanitarian and relief services to the Sudanese community in Uganda, and its ongoing efforts to provide them with the necessary support, especially given the exceptional circumstances and current economic challenges facing refugees.
